A beautiful honeybee, photographed at my parents' home in Dayton, OH. This one hasn't been posted here, but I'm pretty proud of it, so I thought I'd post it anyway.

A High Dynamic Range photograph of Salzburg, Austria as seen from a hotel a few kilometers away. The photograph is a high dynamic range composite, using an overexposed, normally-exposed, and underexposed image combined to improve contrast information, making it more what the eye would see. The colors, however, have been saturated. A re-post, this image was taken in 2008.

Saturn - As seen from the Dyer Observatory

Saturn, as seen on July 10th, 2010 from Vanderbilt's Dyer Observatory. Though the picture appears grainy and fuzzy, it's quite an amazing capture nonetheless - the fuzziness is due to the earth's humid atmosphere at the time, as well as some of the optics of the observatory. The graininess is due to the very high ISO equivalency (ISO-2000) needed to make this an afocal hand-held shot - meaning that the camera's lens was held up by hand to the telescope's eyepiece.
