| The images seen here use a photographic technique called HDR - High Dynamic Range. The human eye can discern quite a range of contrast and lighting information from an image. In contrast, a camera has a limited amount of contrast information that it can capture in a given picture. HDR combines an underexposed, overexposed, and normally-exposed image into one composite. This is then processed with a tone map to bring a closer representation of the actual scene (or sometimes surreally enhanced for effect) to your monitor. |
